So far, Laxiwa Hydropower Station, the largerst installed capacity and most generated energy hydropower station in Yellow River Valley is under smoothly construction. The dam pouring is 10% left, factory and piloting generating system complete about 98%, realizing three units combined to the grid. By 2010, this project will completely finish.

Laxiwa Hydropower Station, located in Guide county in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Qinghai province, is main power station in the north channel of national “west-east electricity transmission project”. It is built from October 10^th, 2001; it realized river closure on January 9^th, 2004; April 15^th, 2006, the first concrete pouring of the dam started; March 1^st, 2009, it successfully stored water; March 24^th, the sixth machine unit started successfully; April 15^th, the first plot of machine combined to the grid.

Deputy of Laxiwa engineering construction department of Qinghai province Yellow River water-power engineering construction company, Wuzhigang said that Laxiwa Hydropower Station equiped with six sets of 700 000 KW units, the average generating volume is 10.2 billion KWh; since the beginning, it has complete the investment of 12 billion yuan. Recently, the construction is in the ending stage, and it is estimated that it will completely finish at the end of next year.

“The construction of Laxiwa Hydropower Station makes it possible using Yellow River abundant water material to provide clean, good quality and cheap power,” Wuzhigang said, “it also can boost the generating effectiveness of the built and to-be-built hydropower station, which has huge comprehensive utilizing benefit and scale economic benefit.”
